Many years ago, I saw a photo of four big brothers standing over their newborn sister as she lay in a bassinet. I remember thinking first how cute the photo was, but mostly how lucky that little girl was to have four big brothers to watch over and protect her. Then I got to experience this in real life with the Powell Family!! Four big brothers and one little sister! Just much older than the little kids I saw in that photo all those years ago.
The Powell Family started with Ashley and Alma five years ago. They created a "yours, mine, and ours" family. Both Ashley and Alma brought two boys of their own to their newly created family and together they had their little girl, Ivy. She is the luckiest little girl! Alma works in finance for the Air Force and Ashley is a 1st grade teacher. Their kids range in age from 3 to 14. With toddler and a teenager and those in between, they stay pretty busy. Together the Powell Family loves to adventure, play games, watch movies, or go out to eat! They are the perfect blended family and have fun together no matter where they are or what they are doing (even taking family photos!!!).
The oldest boy of the family is Cade who is 14 years old. It's never ceases to amaze me that children who are the oldest in their family always seem to be born for that role. Cade is no different. He fills his role well in looking out for his four younger siblings and being the example for the family. Ross and Colson are numbers two and three in the Powell Family. Both are 12 years old and are as fun as all pre-teens. Beckett is 10 and the youngest boy of the family. He looks up to his big brothers a lot, but also looks after his little sister just as much. He is the closest in age to Ivy which makes him the most likely role model for her as she gets older, and he is already such a great example to his little sister. Ivy is 3 and is wise beyond her years. I'm sure it has to do with having four wonderful older brothers who teach her all she knows! I know I sound like a broken record, but she is one lucky little girl!
And as much as Ivy is a lucky three-year-old, her parents are equally lucky to have the most beautiful, loving, blended family! All of the Powell's were so kind and working with them was a true treat for me!
